Mexican Independence Day

Marks the declaration of independence from Spanish rule in 1810. It was recognized on September 27, 1821. The celebrations begin the evening before, known as Grito de Dolores, commemorating Hidalgo's call for the end of Spanish rule in Mexico on this date in 1810 with shouts of "Viva Mexico" and "Viva la Independencia," accompanied with red, white, and green streamers and confetti.
