The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust
The House Manager works in coordination with the Director and Manager of Volunteer Services & Front of House Guest Experience to coordinate all front of house (“FOH”) activities at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s events and venues during Trust performances. This is a part-time position with working hours that will include evenings and weekends as determined by the needs of the Trust. The House Manager will be present during events (performances) and act as the primary on-site supervisor for all regular and volunteer staff members working at a performance. This position requires working cooperatively with individual theater management staff members to ensure guest safety, comfort, and enjoyment while visiting Trust venues and/or attending Trust shows or events. The House Manager is responsible for the leadership and coordination of a wide array of functions related to the Trust’s FOH personnel and corps of volunteer staff members. The main responsibilities consist of: conducting meetings prior to all performances to further the volunteers’ knowledge and to apprise ushers of all pertinent show-related information and theater policy, coordinate ushers to prepare programs and inserts, monitor volunteer performance and enforce policies and procedures as outlined in the Usher’s Manual. These persons are also required to consult with resident company and visiting stage or production managers to determine accurate running times, intermissions, opening of the house to patrons, and all front of house needs required by backstage personnel and coordinate activities with venue food and beverage managers and their staff members as well as with other development or production related personnel.
