This position is responsible for providing strategic and tactical financial guidance to the engineering events group.  The EFS will provide financial management to all product manager levels within the group and is the financial control point for event products.  In addition, the EFS is the primary liaison to SAE’s financial department.  Position reports directly to the Group Director.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work as a team member with the Group Director, Operations Manager, Business Development Managers, and Event Managers to provide financial context, responsibility, and control for existing and envisioned future event business plans; Create pricing models to obtain event profitability goals; Analyze industry trends to determine expected product demand; Appropriate cost control implementation; Will have significant influence on event go / no-go decisions.
  • Supervise product managers in the creation of event budgets ensuring accurate and obtainable budgets that adhere to the group’s overall profitability goals
  • Assist department in preparing proposals and contracts and supporting information
  • Primary responsibility to create group roll-up budgets in conjunction with SAE’s financial department.
  • Review monthly financial statements to: Verify correct revenue and expense allocations to individual events and report discrepancies to Group Director and finance department; Assure adherence to established event expense budgets; Identify and report negative revenue trends to Group Director and initiate corrective action where necessary; Prepare on-going financial forecasts.
  • Provide on-going financial advice and control to event product managers
  • Initiate creative alternatives to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
  • Identify, develop, and/or on-board effective business tools that create group operating efficiencies.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field or Master's degree in Business or Finance required. 
  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in a multi-functional business environment with specific experience in Financial analysis and management, as well as budgetary creation and control. 
  • Event industry experience preferred.
