Allies for Health + Wellbeing started in 1985 as Pittsburgh AIDS Taskforce, providing support for individuals dying from AIDS. Services then evolved into counseling people with HIV/AIDS, providing free and anonymous testing, legal advocacy, mentoring services, and providing a food pantry. In 2017, PATF was rebranded to how Allies stands today, with the opening of our full-service wellness clinic, in addition to the social and mental health services it has always maintained. Now in our third decade of service, Allies has progressed from an agency that helped people with AIDS to die with dignity into an agency that helps people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS as well as viral hepatitis and STIs live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

The Allies team currently provides comprehensive services in the following areas:

  • A medical clinic, offering HIV specialty care and primary care
  • PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) for HIV prevention
  • HIV, hepatitis C and STI testing and education
  • Community outreach, including testing and education
  • Gender-affirming care, including HRT (hormone replacement therapy)
  • Routine gynecological care
  • Mental and behavioral health services
  • Pharmacy services
  • Case management
  • Food pantry
  • Housing program
  • Transportation assistance

Allies has a leadership-led belief in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, and encourages the regular participation of employees to assist in keeping that goal active and constant. Our Voices of Inclusion Committee meets regularly to discuss what is necessary and helpful to keep DE&I on the forefront of our culture, and what it takes to sustain this
