Alcoa’s Pittsburgh Alcoa African Heritage Network (PAAHN) ERG and Vibrant Pittsburgh successfully hosted a mentoring program at Alcoa with participants from the Re-entry through Industry Specific Education (RISE) Project, a Goodwill Industries YouthWorks program. The program kicked off with a young professional who shared his experience at Alcoa’s Leadership conference and his personal journey and strategies for success. The students participated in “speed mentoring” with representatives from the audit, legal, human resources, procurement, and information technology departments. This provided an opportunity for the students to meet and interact with professionals to learn about careers, work ethics, preparation, and setting goals. This was a rewarding program for the PAAHN members to engage and mentor diverse youth that face significant barriers to employment.
