Jewish Family & Children's Service is an acknowledged leader in helping immigrants and refugees resettle and successfully build new lives in our community. Pennsylvania Women Work

 A statewide non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women in transition through job readiness, emotional growth, education, training, and employment. Pennsylvania Women Work provides free services to thousands women each year. Their primary emphasis is to provide comprehensive education, job training,and job placement services to single parents, displaced homemakers, low income head-of-households, and women in transition. The RISE (Refugee and Immigrant Services for Employment) program helps people transfer experience, education, and job credentials and find better jobs in their desired field of employment. They also help job seekers adapt to the culture of the American workplace resulting in access to a better career path, a higher level of employment, and better pay.

Welcoming Pittsburgh

Welcoming Pittsburgh is an immigrant and Latino integration strategy launched by Mayor William Peduto in 2014. The following year, Mayor Peduto released a comprehensive citywide plan that established nearly 40 community-led recommendations to advance welcoming efforts. The Mayor’s Office is leading implementation of the plan through cross-sectoral partnerships. Welcoming Pittsburgh is rooted in a commitment to ensure a more livable city for all residents. Whitehall Public Library

The Whitehall Library in Whitehall Borough, nestled between Brentwood and Castle Shannon, is in a unique position to build impactful programs that increase the quality of life for many immigrants in the Pittsburgh metro area. The community is home to New Americans who have immigrated to Pittsburgh from around the world, including such countries as Bosnia, Nepal, Bhutan, and various countries in Africa. The neighborhood continues to grow and evolve as new populations find their homes in Whitehall. Since beginning its targeted outreach in 2001, the library has worked to adapt to the changing immigrant populations and their cultures, traditions, aspirations and needs.
