Meet the Author: Abeer Hoque

March 22 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join a reading and discussion with Bangladeshi American writer and photographer Abeer Hoque. Born in Nigeria, she moved to the suburbs of Pittsburgh at the age of thirteen, then spent her 20s in Philadelphia, where she attended the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and was committed to a psychiatric ward. Hoque reveals this journey of immigration, parental expectations, depression, and renewal in Olive Witch: A Memoir, published March 2017 by Harper Collins. Booklist calls her memoir “an evocative examination of identity and what it means to be true to yourself.” Hoque is also the author of The Long Way Home, a book of travel photographs and poems, and The Lovers and the Leavers, a book of linked stories, photographs and poems.
