Older Americans Month

May 1 - May 31

Celebrates the contributions older Americans make to families, communities, organizations, and society. Observance began in 1963 when President John F. Kennedy designated May as Senior Citizens Month. In 1980 President Jimmy Carter changed the name. There are over 43 million Americans 65 and over and nearly 20% of them are in the workforce.
