DESCRIPTION:July 12 – Building the Diversity of Your Talent Streams\, Part 1 \nDecades of research by organizational scientists\, sociologists\, economists\, and demographers show that socially diverse groups (that is\, those with a diversity of race\, ethnicity\, gender\, and sexual orientation\, for example) are more innovative than homogeneous groups. However\, simply having a diverse workforce does not always guarantee an inclusive workplace. Strategies to support a diverse talent pool are needed at every stage of the hiring process. \nIn this training participants will:\no learn the importance of attracting a diverse talent pool;\no discuss the benefits of mitigating bias in the hiring process;\no consider immediate strategies and tactics for more equitable hiring and talent attraction. \nVibrant Pittsburgh’s monthly Lunch and Learn brings together Vibrant Pittsburgh members from across sectors and industries in an informal\, interactive\, and participatory atmosphere to collaborate and deepen knowledge. DESCRIPTION:July 26 – Reengage with Supplier Diversity \nJoin Vibrant Pittsburgh and EMSDC-The Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council’s Interim President Brian Oglesby and Executive Vice President Tricina Cash as we discuss the benefits and need for having a Supplier Diversity Plan in place at your organization. We will also discuss having a framework for identifying\, engaging\, and supporting diverse suppliers in our region. \nThe Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council (EMSDC)\, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization\, is an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). There are 23 regional councils across the country with more than 1\,750 corporate members. The EMSDC certifies and connects minority-owned businesses (Asian\, Black\, Hispanic\, and Native American) throughout Pennsylvania\, Southern New Jersey\, and Delaware with member corporations. These corporations are committed to supplier development and want to purchase their products\, services and solutions. \nResilience Through Equity Series (RTES) \nThis series is an opportunity for Vibrant Pittsburgh to highlight and tackle critical opportunities to improve the practices\, policies\, and cultures of organizations in the Pittsburgh region\, increasing the impact of our collective DE&I efforts.
