POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises, conducts and assists in the coordination of specialized technical work on Capital projects involving both civil and architectural disciplines.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidate selected to fill this position must obtain: A NICET Inspector Level III Certification OR a Pennsylvania Department of Labor ADA Compliance Certification within 60 days of start date. -OR-
A National Recreation and Park Association Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certification OR a Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code Certification, within 90 days of start date.

Qualifying Requirements:
Your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will receive notice of your eligibility status via email.
WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show four (4) years of full-time experience in construction inspection. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show an Associate’s Degree in any field. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).
EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position, based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above. The Total Qualifying Requirement is six (6) years. (See NOTE under General Application Requirements regarding education/training verification.)

POSITION DUTIES
Supervises, performs and assists in the coordination of technical research, planning, design, estimating, contracting, constructing and/or monitoring city Capital construction projects.
Directs, coordinates and/or conducts field inspections to determine feasibility, practicability, compliance and cost of various construction alternatives.
Supervises assigned personnel; evaluates work; recommends and implements approved disciplinary and/or corrective action; provides training and/or technical assistance as requested or required.
Prepares sketches, plans, maps or drawings to present alternatives or to record changes in the field.
Directs and coordinates the taking of measurements which may have impact on proposed projects; analyzes results.
Maintains special financial accounting systems for assigned projects.
Monitors estimates, vouchers, change orders, calculation books, etc. for accuracy.
Maintains records and prepares accurate project reports as requested or required.
Resolves construction problems; interacts with contractors and public organizations regarding projects.
Performs, coordinates and directs information gathering, processing and archiving of the City’s physical assets and record drawings.
Plans, develops, directs, coordinates, organizes and controls the materials, equipment and personnel under jurisdiction toward the effective, efficient and economical attainment of program goals, including maximum convenience to the public and safety of employees.
Manages area of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policy including union agreements to ensure fair and standardized treatment of employees.
Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
