Licensed Social Worker

Program: Nazareth Prep
Reports To: Interim Head of School or another designated school administrator
Hours: 11-month position (August 1 – June 30)
Location: Main Campus

Position Summary
The Licensed Social Worker plays a crucial role in removing non-academic barriers to student success by addressing social, emotional, and systemic factors affecting a student’s ability to learn and succeed. This position offers holistic support, connecting students and families with essential resources within the school and community to enhance well-being, academic performance, and post-graduation outcomes. Working alongside the high school’s career services program, the social worker works to support students’ college and career readiness, successful internship experiences, and workforce development pathways.

Responsibilities:
Student Support and Intervention
* Support students in taking responsibility for their actions when disciplined for inappropriate behavior, understand the consequences of their actions, reflect, repent, and grow.
* Design and implement comprehensive social-emotional learning (SEL) programs and workshops to help students develop essential life skills, including communication, professionalism, problem-solving, and teamwork, aligned with Nazareth Prep’s focus on spiritual formation, college and career readiness, and internship preparation.
* Offer individual and group counseling to students on personal, social, and emotional issues such as mental health, trauma, substance abuse, and peer conflicts
* Conduct assessments of students’ needs and environmental factors impacting their academic performance, utilizing an ecological approach.
* Create and implement tiered intervention plans for students with academic, behavioral, or attendance issues in partnership with teachers, parents, and administrators.
* Act as a crisis intervention resource for students and families, providing immediate support during emergencies.
* Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and external agencies to access and coordinate services for students in need

Internship and Workforce Development
* Collaborate with the career services team to support successful internships, college and career fairs, and other career-related and exploration opportunities.
* Evaluate students’ psychosocial and environmental barriers to participation and success in internships, developing support strategies accordingly.
* Counsel and coach students to prepare them for workplace expectations, such as building social skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities.
* Provide post-internship debriefings and support to help students process their experiences and connect with additional workforce resources.

Collaboration and Consultation
* Serve as a consultant to teachers and staff on social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, and other factors influencing student behavior and academic success.
* Lead workshops or training sessions for students, families, and staff on topics like conflict resolution, stress management, and cultural competence.
* Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners to build a supportive network for students and families.

Professional Practice
* Maintain accurate, confidential case files and records following legal and ethical standards.
* Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, including the NASW Code of Ethics.
* Manage a caseload of students efficiently, prioritizing based on student needs and school objectives.
* Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices in school social work.

Required Qualifications
* Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the CSWE.
* Active state licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
* Experience working with adolescents and families, preferably in a school setting.
* Knowledge of federal and state educational laws, including IDEA and Section 504.
* Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse students, families, school staff, and community members.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications
* Experience or training in college and career counseling, workforce development, or school-to-work      programs.
* Expertise in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention strategies.
* Experience with PBIS, RTI2, or MTSS frameworks
