Job Purpose:
The Director of Individual Support plays a key leadership role in the PSO’s Development Team expanding the pipeline of support from individuals and the efficient operations to support these efforts. The Director of Individual Support will be a highly motivated professional with a strong Development background that includes demonstrated experience building strategic donor engagement, securing a range of gifts, as well as ensuring efficient systems to support moves management. The Director of Individual Support will be a strong leader, as well as a recognizable and passionate advocate for the PSO throughout the community.
Development Responsibilities:
- Directs and leads strategy for Grassroots and Mid-Level ($1-2,500) individual giving programs to expand and grow Annual Fund support via direct mail, tele-funding, email, social media, and text communication channels.
- Oversees the Development Operations team to ensure efficient data entry, gift acknowledgements, database integrity, financial reconciliation, data analytics, and reporting for the Department.
- Partners with the Director of Marketing to ensure increased overall PSO patron investment (earned and contributed revenue).
- Partners with the Director of Major Gifts & Campaign to align annual fund and major gifts growth strategies to ensure overall success in individual giving pipeline growth at the PSO.
- Partners with the Events team on patron engagement opportunities at the PSO.
- Manages a modest portfolio (75-100 donors) with a focus on increasing value of donor engagement.
- Serves as the staff liaison for the Jack Heinz Advisory Board for programming & recruitment.
- Develops the department budget with the SVP & Chief Development Officer including annual & multi-year budgeting, projections, and resource deployment & management.
- Directs intra and inter-departmental projects at the assignment of the SVP & Chief Development Officer, primarily with the Marketing, Finance, HR, and IT teams.
- Attend and assist with development-related events and concerts throughout the year including evenings and weekends.
Required Education, Experience and Abilities:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field. (Master’s preferred)
- At least 7 years of professional fundraising and relationship management experience.
- Track record of overseeing Annual Fund campaigns.
- Experience building, leading, and inspiring teams.
- Understanding of laws, regulations, and best practices for philanthropy.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Capacity to work under pressure and collaboratively with all types of people.
- Ability to work flexible hours, particularly weekends and evenings.
- Must have access to transportation for travel to meetings and appointments.
Compensation and Location:
This is a full-time position with an annual salary range between $80,000 – $100,000 depending upon experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefit package which includes paid holidays, paid time off, paid health benefits, as well as retirement savings options with an employer match. Heinz Hall in downtown Pittsburgh is the work location for this position. Success in this position requires local presence and relationship building. The PSO supports a flexible, hybrid work environment, which currently includes three days per week in-person work, including occasional work on weekends and evenings during PSO and Heinz Hall concerts or events.
