PBC – Tissue Bank Technologist II

The Pitt Biospecimen Core (PBC) is an institutional resource for collection, processing, and disbursement of biospecimens dedicated to serving the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Faculty in meeting their research needs.  PBC Labs are located at UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC Magee-Women’s, UPMC Shadyside and UPMC Children’s Hospitals.

Coordinates to obtain human tissue specimens and processes and banks human tissue from surgical and autopsy patients. Prepares samples and records for disbursement. Acts as point of contact for tissue bank technicians and provides guidance. Performs inventory maintenance and data entry functions. Utilizes personal protective equipment and ensures adherence to all applicable protocols and guidelines
