WQED Multimedia is seeking an experienced, driven, and entrepreneurial Marketing Director who is eager to help communicate the breadth of WQED’s services to inspire and engage more of our neighbors across southwestern Pennsylvania. You should be enthusiastic about leading, coaching and mentoring a team of Digital Marketing Managers responsible for social, digital, e-mail, and website content.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and planner who will infuse a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven marketing tactics, ongoing evaluation and testing. This position reports to and works closely with the Head of Marketing and Membership. This is a hybrid role that’s expected to commute to and contribute from WQED’s offices in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh at least three days per week.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The annual compensation band for this full-time exempt position is $80,000 – $95,000 base salary, commensurate with experience. Employer-sponsored benefits include health insurance via UPMC’s Business Advantage plan ($500 deductible, with premiums on a wage-based sliding scale). WQED pays 100% of the premiums for: Delta Dental PPO, long-term disability insurance from The Hartford, and basic life insurance at 1.5X salary. We offer optional vision insurance through Vision Benefits of America. After 12 months, WQED also contributes 5% of employees’ salary to a 403(b) retirement plan managed by TIAA-CREF.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide strategic direction, implementation, and oversight of marketing campaigns.
Ensure WQED is maximizing broadcast, streaming, web, social and e-mail channels to retain and grow audience engagement.
Oversee the creation of compelling and engaging messaging for various platforms, including website, social media, and print materials.
Supervise and coach marketing managers, including offering guidance on tactical plans, timelines, campaign creative, and delivery channels.
Leverage market trends and research data to develop campaigns and strategies intended to grow brand awareness and market share.
Champion WQED’s evolving brand identity, working closely with the Brand Manager to ensure WQED departments are aligned with brand integrity and consistency.
Foster a collaborative and innovative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and accountability.
Report to the Head of Marketing and Membership and collaborate with executive leadership and the Marketing department to develop consistent, coordinated marketing across all channels.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
6+ years of marketing experience, including 2+ years managing or supervising teams with a demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire and meet goals.
Highly organized, creative, ability to prioritize, strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and aesthetics.
Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
A proven record leading multi-channel campaigns that achieve marketing goals.
Proficient in project management, execution and delivery, providing creative direction and tracking progress against objectives.
Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills with internal and external stakeholders, staff and vendors. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner internally to identify, prioritize and deliver strategic goals.
Solid understanding of and experience in change management, idea creation, employee development, coaching and cross-team effectiveness as well as demonstrated leadership in fostering continuous learning, empowerment, involvement and opportunities.
Ability to establish an independent view, effectively collaborate in decision-making and motivate others, especially during complex and challenging situations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, website content management, email marketing systems, social media platforms.
