Nov. 9 – Clear Conversations: Culturally Competent Communication in the Workplace

Communicating successfully in the workplace requires practice and skill. Communicating successfully with people from different cultures is a continual process. In this training participants will learn how to overcome obstacles that may impede respectful, meaningful conversations with people from diverse backgrounds; understand the importance of paying attention to cultural differences in the workplace; and recognize differences in communication styles.

In this training, participants will:
• understand inclusive work environments and how culture can affect communication styles;
• understand aspects of language learning and fluency
• learn tips for communicating more clearly, concisely, and in a culturally competent manner

Vibrant Pittsburgh’s monthly Lunch and Learn brings together Vibrant Pittsburgh members from across sectors and industries in an informal, interactive, and participatory atmosphere to collaborate and deepen knowledge. Breakout rooms are used; there is no requirement to appear on camera.
