Fallingwater (Mill Run, PA)

 

Fallingwater, a property entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, designated as a National Historic Landmark and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is seeking a full-time Maintenance Specialist for the Maintenance department. The function of this position is to perform general maintenance, repair, and minor construction work to ensure that facilities and grounds are properly maintained. This position reports to the Director of Maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential or Marginal):

 

E              Performs general masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting.

E              Maintains grounds through raking, cleaning brush, mowing, trimming, cutting trees, blowing leaves, and snow and ice removal.

E              Removes and properly disposes of trash.

E              Sweeps, scrubs, cleans, paints, provides various maintenance services as needed.

E              Assists with maintenance of equipment, including tractors, mowers, trucks, cars, etc.

E              Assists with preventative maintenance activities, including changing filters in heating and cooling systems and routine inspections of other mechanical systems.

E              Assists with various construction and maintenance projects as assigned.

E              Assists with special event coordination and set up.

E              Supports the Conservancy’s cost containment efforts and needs, as applicable.

E              Understands and follows all established safety and security procedures.

M            Assists with maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment plant.

M            Runs job related errands as requested.

M            Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

 

Qualifications:

 

·         Experience in general maintenance functions.

·         Ability to operate hand tools, chain saws, power tools and other equipment.

·         Valid driver’s license.

·         Ability to work with chemicals.

·         Ability to drive tractors, mowers, skid steers, etc.

·         Ability to work well independently and with others.

·         Ability to work weekends, holidays, and some evenings. Flexibility with schedule and hours is required.

·         Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

 

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching.
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods – 6-7 hours per day.
Physical stamina for working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
·         Utilizing keyboarding and fine motor skills

·         Gross manipulation such as seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s).

·         Utilizing gross motor skills to operate tools and equipment

·         Ability to operate standard office equipment

·         Pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds

·         Bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and crawling

·         Reaching overhead, at eye level, and below shoulder level

·         Climbing up and down stairways and ladders

·         Sitting/standing/walking for periods in excess of 2 hours

 

Location: The position is based at Fallingwater in Mill Run, PA.

 

Position Duration: This is a full-time opportunity which includes a comprehensive benefits package.
