About the Vibrant Index

The Vibrant Index Initiative, a collaboration between Vibrant Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, drives diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) changes across industry and sector.

The Vibrant Index identifies areas of success as well as what critical actions are needed to improve the practices, policies, and cultures of organizations in the Pittsburgh region. What have we learned from the 2024 Vibrant Index 5.0 Summary Report?

There is a high correlation between organizations led by executives who have signed DEI pledges and their overall performance on the diagnostic. Participants with such leadership scored 15 points higher than those who did not.

The majority of participants report using data surrounding DEI in decision-making; however, it is possible to analyze retention rates, promotion and advancement rates, exit interview data, and engagement scores compared to the same data.

One hundred percent of the participants provided DEI-related training at least once last year to each employee throughout the enterprise.

Opportunities to augment Pittsburgh’s talent pool lie in more companies conducting annual engagement surveys, with only 76% of participants reporting.

Further, talent opportunities exist through expanding utilization of immigrant sponsorship, with only 39% reporting.

Vibrant Index 5.0 – 2024 Vibrant Champions

The designation of Vibrant Champion is awarded to employers scoring at least 95% in all nine Vibrant Index pillars.
