Allegheny County’s buses, light rail, and paratransit will keep running for now — without cuts or fare hikes — thanks to a PennDOT waiver allowing Pittsburgh Regional Transit to use capital funds for operational needs. Although the move avoids service cuts for two years, it buys time, not stability. PRT will continue to advocate for sustainable, long-term funding to keep our region moving forward.
