What it is
Observed every November in the United States, National Native American Heritage Month honors the histories, cultures, and contemporary contributions of Native peoples. It’s an invitation to learn, reflect, and build relationships that last beyond the month.

Who it recognizes
American Natives and Alaska Natives—including 574 federally recognized tribes—along with state-recognized tribes and urban Native communities. Many institutions also include Native Hawaiians in November programming. When possible, use specific tribal names rather than broad labels.
